Addiction

Voice My Story Challenges Addiction

Addiction is something that touches most lives to some degree. Perhaps the experience is personal, perhaps it happened to another but the effects of alcohol and narcotics abuse are devastating to so many individuals and communities alike. Addiction eats away at the values and infrastructures that hold up self-sustaining and quality lives. 9.5 million Americans are afflicted with drug addiction this year. This figure does not calculate the devastation that is caused by accidents, violence, distribution conflicts, crime, income loss, and more.  From the quality of time spent with a loved one to a career on the brink alcohol and narcotic abuse can tear down so much of what we strive to build, leaving nothing but itself in its wake. It’s time to get our lives back not just for ourselves but for our loved ones. What has been torn down we must rebuild, the cycle that we recycle must break. Here at Voice My Story , we pride ourselves on offering solutions to this problem. Voice My Story implements many strategies to face this issue in the eye and regrow what was burnt.

Sober Culture

Voice My Story realizes that the “culture of cool” that has been created by drugs can alienate those that fear missing out. We endorse instead, sober cultures where true connections can be made and supportive friends are found. Truly connecting to the world, one’s purpose, and one’s community is one of the biggest elevators away from the darkness of addiction. We provide a supportive atmosphere and community to those who are in pain and help navigate them to a hopeful recovery.

Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation information is freely given to those who are in need. Helping to place each individual into an affordable and appropriate atmosphere that works with their way of healing to restore them back to health. Mental health service information is provided for individual counselors to work with those struggling with emotions and grievances during their recovery from addiction.

Medical services can sometimes be necessary depending on the damage and severity that the addiction has caused. We offer references to medical facilities that can help to monitor and support the improvement of health.

Alternative Activities

Voice My Story supports art programs and alternative activities. Boredom breeds addiction. We try to offer a plethora of alternative options for addicts to spend their time. From health and Fitness to classes and the arts. This self-expression and self-care are vital to successful sobriety.

All In All

Addiction does not just affect the individual but also all those close by. Those closest to the addicts can suffer and bad habits can spread. Teaching children to family members how to properly address the problem of addiction, manage their own time and emotions, and have supportive networks who have been there and can offer wisdom and guidance is information provided by Voice My Story.
